How to do it

  1. 1Use the crayons/pastels to create a detailed drawing, applying heavy pressure. White or light colors will show the strongest contrast.
  2. 2Ensure the wax completely covers the areas you want to remain untouched by paint.
  3. 3Prepare a dark wash of watercolor paint (blue, purple, or black) and load the brush.
  4. 4Paint directly over the entire wax drawing. The paint will repel from the waxy areas.
  5. 5Allow the artwork to dry and observe the resulting textural effect.
