How to do it

  1. 1Select a specific, achievable item to replicate (e.g., a bird feeder from a photo).
  2. 2Define the constraints: maximum number of pieces allowed or restricted color palette.
  3. 3Encourage the child to plan the steps mentally or on paper before building.
  4. 4Provide breaks if frustration mounts, but encourage returning to the task to achieve the goal.
  5. 5Compare the finished model to the original photo and discuss the structural challenges faced.
