How to do it
- 1Head to a local trail, creek, or area where loose stones are abundant.
- 2Give the child the 'mission' to collect 10 unique rocks.
- 3As rocks are collected, ask the child to describe them using specific adjectives (smooth, gritty, speckled, heavy, light).
- 4Back at home, clean the collection and arrange the rocks by category (e.g., largest to smallest, darkest to lightest).
