How to do it

  1. 1Lay out the materials in a short sequence, ensuring no sharp edges or splinters.
  2. 2Start by having the toddler remove shoes and socks.
  3. 3Guide the toddler to step slowly onto each new surface.
  4. 4Describe the sensation of each material ('cold', 'bumpy', 'soft').
  5. 5End the activity with a foot wipe and praise.
