How to do it

  1. 1Walk along a path, stopping frequently.
  2. 2Point to an object and ask the child to gently touch it (e.g., 'Touch this tree bark. Is it rough or smooth?').
  3. 3Use descriptive words: bumpy, prickly, soft, fuzzy, cold, warm.
  4. 4After touching, prompt the child to repeat the texture word back to you.
