Harris Fishman: Beetle Moses
Author signing and Q&A session for a new comics collection featuring nature and sci-fi themes.
Full disclosure: I have met the author of this new comics collection, which traverses the nuances of nature – what if monkeys stole a banana truck – to the absurdities of outer space – what if an alien landed on Earth to get a barbershop fade – all to humorous effect. He tabled at this year’s indie art expo Staple!, where I bought a print and stickers off him. After, of course, dropping my day job as Chron Calendar editor into our chat, he asked if he could get my work email to alert me about this very event. Usually I carry a notebook – or my fabulous business cards – for such an ask, but I simply didn’t have either this time. So, instead, I wrote my email addy on the back of a zine I made about Garfield. Time passed, and while I didn’t get an email from dear Fishman about this signing, I’m still letting YOU know he’s in town, he’s signing books, and there’ll be a Q&A hosted at ABC this weekend. – James Scott
