Ballet Esprit Presents: ALTER-NUT Awakening

A modern, tech-focused retelling of the classic Nutcracker ballet exploring themes of screen addiction and human connection.

This particularly unique Alternative Nutcracker Ballet is a retelling of the traditional two-act tale, now through a more relatable lens. The Alter-Nut Awakening explores our fragmented society, obsessed with devices, and the need for more resilient bonds. Leaving behind Victorian themes, these performances confront our current lived experience. Beloved characters, such as Clara, Fritz, and Drosselmeyer, are depicted in the present as a parody of our screen addiction. Gaining new perspective through the Place of Presence in Act II with the help of some reimagined iconic roles, like “Guiding Light” and “Sweetness + Joy”, the Siblings return to kinship, meaningful relationships and collective experiences.   Special Opportunity!! Gala and Cast Party for ALTER-Nut Awakening. Tuesday November 17th 6:30 – 8:30 PM at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre. Gain an intimate perspective through a backstage experience; participate in Tech Rehearsal as Ballet ESPRIT offers a new take on a timeless classic! Witness the cast and crew’s inner workings of the production. Afterwards, mingle with them in the Gala Reception with champagne and hors d’oeuvres in the idyllic riverside theatre lobby. Festive Formal evening wear in Sequin + Disco Ball Holiday Theme highly encouraged! Purchase also includes a ticket to the ballet performance, Thursday or Friday night.
