A community cycling event with multiple route lengths through local trails to celebrate America's 250th anniversary.

The Americana 250 Cycling Classic is a vibrant, community-centered event that utilizes the Miami Valley Trail Network—the epicenter of the nation's largest paved trail system—to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary through outdoor recreation, local history, and regional pride. Event proceeds directly benefit the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area programs and services. A Route for Every Skill Level (Note: As indicated on the event documentation, routes remain tentative and subject to change based on current Greene County Parks & Trails conditions) Participants can choose from four distinct, scenic cycling routes designed for families and experienced riders alike: • 10-Mile Liberty Ride: Perfect for families, focusing on local history with available stops at Xenia Station and the Greene County Historical Society. • 25-Mile Pioneer Expedition: Explores America's aviation history by riding through Fairborn where the Wright Brothers worked, featuring views of the National Museum of the United States Air Force. • 40-Mile Heritage Quest: A journey through historic Yellow Springs and the natural, conserved landscapes of Glen Helen and John Bryan State Park. • 64-Mile Patriot Tour: A challenging metric century ride connecting the rich history of Cedarville's college-town vibe with the local flavor of Jamestown. Celebrating the U.S. 250th Anniversary The event deeply aligns with and honors the Semiquincentennial (250th anniversary) of the United States through several patriotic and educational elements: • The American Passport Challenge: Riders can collect commemorative tokens at designated historical landmarks and sponsored rest stops along each route. • Historical Discovery: Guests can scan QR codes at key locations to learn about unique American historical icons, qualifying them for prizes at the post-ride celebration. • Patriotic Themes: The event operates under the theme "Pedal for the Past, Ride for the Future," directly celebrating 250 years of the American Spirit. The Heritage Hub Festival Open to the public with no registration or admission fee required, the Heritage Hub at the Greene County Fair and Expo Center serves as the event's celebratory festival village. Guests can expect: • An expansive vendor area featuring everything from local bike shops to neighborhood retailers. • A diverse lineup of local food trucks. • The Young Explorer Zone, a dedicated space filled with activities just for kids. Please visit https://www.dayton-unitedway.org/ for event details, registration information, and to learn more about the work of United Way of the Greater Dayton Area.
