Hands-on community service with Second Harvest Food Bank sorting and packing produce.

Join us for a hands-on community service experience with Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Children and families will work together to sort and pack fresh produce that will help support neighbors facing food insecurity throughout our community. Time: 9am-12pm Included in museum admission. Space is limited! Book your tickets now. *Members do not require a reservation. *Events and dates are subject to change. About the play partner: Second Harvest Food Bank is a nonprofit organization in Orange County. Their Vision: Orange County with food and nutritional security for all. Their Mission: In collaboration with our partners, we provide dignified, equitable and consistent access to nutritious food, creating a foundation for community health. Their Value: Integrity, accountability, people first, compassion, purpose driven, stewardship Frequently Asked Questions Who can participate? Children and families of all ages are welcome to help pack produce alongside the Second Harvest Food Bank team. Do I need any special experience? No experience is needed. Second Harvest staff and volunteers will provide instructions and guidance throughout the activity. What will we be doing? Families will help sort and pack fresh produce that will be distributed to local children, families, and seniors experiencing food insecurity Why is Pretend City hosting this event? As part of Hunger Action Month , we’re helping children learn that they can make a positive impact in their community through acts of kindness and service How does this support child development? Children practice counting, sorting, teamwork, problem-solving, and fine motor skills while learning empathy, generosity, and community responsibility Is there an additional cost to participate? No. This activity is included with museum admission Can my child participate for only part of the event? Yes. Families are welcome to stop by anytime between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM Where does the food go? The packed produce will be distributed through Second Harvest Food Bank’s network of community partners serving families throughout Orange County How many families can participate? Participation is available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
