Lake Wingra Community Bike Ride

A community bike, walk, or run around Lake Wingra with educational stops about local ecology and history.

Friends of Lake Wingra invites the community to explore one of Madison’s most scenic lakes at the Lake Wingra Community Bike Ride on Saturday, September 26, from 2–4 p.m. Participants can bike, walk, or run the 6.5-mile Lake Wingra Loop while discovering the history, ecology, and cultural significance of the lake and its surrounding neighborhoods. Route markers and an interactive Story Map identify points of interest around the lake, while local experts will be stationed at several stops to share stories about wildlife, restoration efforts, stormwater and the people and places that make Lake Wingra unique. The event begins at the Vilas Park Shelter and participants may complete the route at their own pace. The event is free and open to all ages.
