Join the Carrboro Farmers’ Market in celebrating the region’s humble root vegetables and the start of its winter market season! Saturday, Nov. 7, marks the first Saturday of the market’s winter hours (9 a.m.-noon) and is the perfect time to celebrate root vegetables for upcoming Thanksgiving and holiday dishes. Fill market baskets with seasonal favorites like sweet potatoes, beets, carrots, onions, ginger, potatoes and more — all grown within 50 miles. At Root Fest, shoppers can enjoy vendor specials featuring root vegetables, an educational display about sweet potatoes (North Carolina’s state vegetable!), recipe samples to inspire their shopping, a potato-stamping craft for the whole family and much more.
