Basics of Rock Identification
An interactive ranger-led activity teaching children how to classify and identify different types of rocks.
Taking a look around, you’ll notice rocks are different from one another, but did you know rocks have different classifications or groupings? Would you like to learn how to group like rocks together and discover what makes rocks different from one another? Join a Ranger for an interactive activity about, you guessed it, rocks! All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather! Spaces are limited, and registration is required. To sign up, call (984) 250-1370 or email eno.river@ncparks.gov. Include the number of guests in your party and a phone number where you can be reached if the event is changed or canceled.
