Recharge in VR: Raleigh Nature in 360° With Campus Nature Rx
Experience local nature trails and forests through immersive virtual reality headsets and a 360-degree theater room.
Have you visited all of the nature spots and green spaces around campus? This semester, students in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management have been creating virtual reality experiences of outdoor hidden gems at NC State and around Raleigh for you to explore. In collaboration with Campus Nature Rx, this event in the D. H. Hill Jr. Library's iPearl Innovation Studio will give you the chance to put on a VR headset and take a break from the day with a 360-degree video of relaxing trails, forests and lakes. You’ll also be able to step inside the Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery, a 360-degree theater room, and be immersed in these virtual nature works. As part of the event, Nathan Williams, the instructor for Introduction to Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Event Management, will discuss using 360 video and virtual reality in courses or personal projects. Campus Nature Rx representatives will be at the event to help guests learn about more ecowellness opportunities on campus. This is a drop-in event, so you can stop by anytime for a few minutes or longer if you need more of an escape. Some of this semester's projects will be incorporated into an ongoing exhibit, which you can view before and after the event in the Innovation Studio at the Hill Library.
