Research Up Close: Constructed Facilities Lab Tour

DateOct 6, 2026 · 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (EDT)
PriceFree
Ages8+

Tour a civil engineering lab to see structural testing, including bridge pillar stress tests and hands-on research demonstrations.

Tour the Constructed Facilities Lab, a civil engineering paradise where concrete bends, metal freezes and earthquakes are an everyday occurrence. You'll be guided by CFL researchers who can show you all of their coolest toys and tell you about the importance of their research and its impact on the world. This is an educational experience, but it is also an incredibly entertaining peek into one of the most hands-on and immediately recognizable research experiences on campus. Their machines might be complicated, but when you get to watch a decommissioned bridge pillar break under a shake test, it is as fascinating to watch as it is to instantly understand why it matters. Slots are limited, so please register to attend the tour.
