Sensory-Friendly Learning at Discovery Center
Quiet, sensory-adjusted hours at the science center for visitors who prefer a calmer environment.
Sensory-Friendly Learning The Discovery Center of Idaho is thrilled to provide Sensory-Friendly Learning Hours each month for visitors who may become overstimulated by the bustling atmosphere of the everyday visitor experience. Prepare for your visit by reviewing our Sensory Guide Map and Sensory Kit offerings listed below. SENSORY-FRIENDLY HOURS: We will host Sensory-Friendly Hours every Tuesday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Registration for each event slot is available through our general admission link . Sensory Guide Map The Sensory Guide Map is designed to support our visitors by identifying sensory input in spaces throughout the Center. The information included shows varying types of stimuli (audio, visual or tactile) and uses color coding to indicate the level of stimulation that may be present in each section of our facility. Please be aware that at high traffic times, activity levels and therefore stimuli all around the Center tend to be heightened. View Sensory Guide Sensory Kits Sensory Kits will be available upon request at the front desk on a first come, first serve basis. These kits include noise-reducing headphones, sunglasses and various fidget toys to support visitors during their time at the Discovery Center of Idaho. Visitors must temporarily deposit an identification card at the front desk to check out a Sensory Kit, and will receive it back upon returning the kit.
